Prayer is important for believers and much more for those who serve the LORD.
Importance of Prayer & Intercession
JESUS showed us a model in John 17 of HIS Prayer and Intercession for the souls.
All four gospels shows that JESUS always spent time in Prayer with the Father. JESUS did not do anything without prayer.
Prayer is important for believers and much more for those who serve the LORD. If you really want to be effective in the Gospel work, a prayer life of intimacy with the Heavenly Father is important.
When we pray, Spirit of God will guide us to the right person who will receive HIM. The witnessing will be effective as God used Phillip the evangelist to lead the Ethiopian eunuch to salvation (Acts 8:25-40).
Bible says in 1 Tim 2:1-4 , Prayer for others is pleasing to God. The Book of Daniel chapter 9 describes the prayer and intercession of Daniel for the nation and the people, and Angel Gabriel said he was greatly beloved of the LORD.
Prayer & intercession for salvation of souls:
- Pray for Spirit of God to convict the Souls (John 16:8).
- Pray that God will open the hearts of the souls to listen to Word of God through you, because the minds of the unbelievers are blinded by satan (2 Cor 4:4). So, when you pray God will open heart to respond to the Gospel being preached (Acts 16:14).
- Pray for Satan to be bound so that people might be set free to receive the gospel (Matthew 12:29; 18:18-19; II Corinthians 4:3-4).
Prayer for effective witnessing:
- Pray for God’s Love in you to love souls and burden.
- Pray for God to grant boldness to witness (Acts 4:29).
- Identify and Pray against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness ruling that area/region and the souls. Your battle is against the spirits that has bound the souls and ruling them and sometimes even the whole region from receiving JESUS. (Mark 3:27, Eph 6:12)
- Pray for God to God to heal the sick, and signs and wonders will happen as you witness (Acts 4:30).
- Pray that demons will be cast out and deliverance for those in bondage (Mark 16:17).
- Pray for God to strengthen you with HIS armor (Eph 6:13-18), so you can confidently and boldly witness.
- Pray that no evil shall hurt you/your family/your possessions as you witness (Mark 16:18).
